Earlier today at the ongoing Commission on the Status of Women #CSW68, the Secretary to the Cabinet

Hon. Anne Wang’ombe and Parliamentary Affairs Principal Secretary Hon. Aurelia Rono attended the “Financing social protection and care systems for the fulfillment of human rights, gender equality and poverty reduction” meeting by @UNWomen

During the meeting, the Government of Kenya highlighted the tremendous efforts made to finance social protection and care systems which include:

  • Mainstreaming of Gender into budgetary process. 
  • Creation of decent, good quality jobs for women in care economy in the public and private sectors. 
  • Implementation of the standard charter of accounts system to improve public financial management processes
  • Targeted measures to recognize, reduce and redistribute women’s disproportionate burden of unpaid care and domestic work
  • Creation of ICT related jobs for women
  • Pioneering of one stop shop centers that offer comprehensive business development services that address poverty
