Lady Justice Joyce Aluoch is a Judge of the International Criminal Court in The Hague and a former judge of the High Court of Kenya.
She was the First Chairperson of the Committee of African Union Experts on the Rights and Welfare of the Child and was the Vice-Chairperson of the United Nations Committee on the Rights of the Child from 2003 to 2009.
Lady Justice served as the inaugural head of the Family Division of the Kenyan High Court and a member of the Court of Appeal;
She was elected vice-president of the International Criminal Court in 2015. She rose to the position of Vice President of the Trial Division of the Court
She is also made history yet again after she was became the first African to be feted with one of Fletcher School’s top awards in the U.S. Lady Justice Aluoch was recognized as a distinguished graduate who promoted the institution standards through top roles in Kenya and internationally. She was warded the Fletcher Award by the US Fletcher School of Law and Diplomacy in September 2018.
She was awarded the Order of the Burning Spear, 1st Class, Chief of the Burning Spear (CBS)
