Mary Okelo is an educationist and successful entrepreneur who has contributed immensely to education and micro finance services in Kenya. She is the Founder and Chair of Kenya Women Finance Trust Founder, and Makini Schools (Financial services; Education) where she serves as its Executive Director. She had a long career in banking and is the first woman in East Africa to head a Barclays Bank branch and is one of Kenya’s foremost entrepreneurs. She is a fellow of the Kenya Institute of Bankers and is a Holder of 2 honorary Doctorates, one from United Graduate College and Seminary in U.S.A for her contribution to humanity, and the other from Africa Nazarene University Nairobi for distinguished service to the community. Dr Okelo has also had numerous other positions like Senior Advisor to the President of the African Development Bank, and first regional representative of Women’s World Banking.

She was awarded the 2nd Class of the Elder of the Burning Spear (EBS)
