GOAL
To advance Gender Equality and Women’s Empowerment through State and Non-State actors, in a coordinated manner and aligned to the Constitution, Vision 2030 and its Medium-Term Implementation Plans.
OVERALL OBJECTIVE
To co-ordinate all efforts on Gender Equality and Women’s Empowerment in the Country.
SPECIFIC OBJECTIVES
- To synergize formulation and review of national gender sectoral priorities, policies, and strategies;
- To jointly track progress in implementation of agreed actions and results related to national priorities on Gender Equality and Women’s Empowerment, and their impacts;
- To establish and strengthen linkages among partners within the sector;
- To create a platform for information sharing and joint knowledge management within the gender sector and beyond;
- To coordinate mapping of partners’ areas of work on Gender Equality and Women’s Empowerment for effectiveness and non-duplication of efforts;
- To effectively coordinate funding mechanisms to the gender sector by development partners;
- To promote joint initiatives amongst stakeholders in the sector where appropriate.
MEETINGS
- The National GSWG meets twice in a year;
- The National GSWG Committees meets on quarterly basis;
- The State Department for Gender provides secretarial/administrative support to the forum and convenes the meetings in liaison with the Chair and Co-Chair.
