Ms. Anne Wang’ombe
Principal Secretary

Through comprehensive policies, strategic partnerships, and targeted programs, we focus on the following key areas:

  1. Gender Equality: Promoting equal opportunities for women and men in all sectors, including employment, education, health, and leadership. We work to eliminate discrimination and build environments where everyone can thrive.
  2. Women's Empowerment: Ensuring that women have access to resources, training, and economic opportunities. Our programs aim to create pathways to women entrepreneurship, participation in decision-making processes, increased access to finance, and skilling for sustainable livelihoods.
  3. Affirmative Action Initiatives: Addressing the unique needs of marginalized communities through affirmative action programs. This includes initiatives that enhance access to healthcare, education, and employment for vulnerable groups.
  4. Gender-Based Violence Prevention and Response: Working to eliminate gender-based violence by strengthening legal frameworks, supporting survivors, and building awareness. Our goal is to ensure safe and supportive communities for all.
  5. Policy Advocacy and Capacity Building: Collaborating with national and international partners to influence policy reforms and build capacity within local communities. This helps create sustainable impact through policy development, public awareness, and effective service delivery.

Our approach combines research, policy development, and program implementation to create meaningful change. By collaborating with governmental, non-governmental, and community-based advocacy organizations, we strive to foster a culture of respect, dignity, and inclusivity.

In partnership with citizens and stakeholders, the State Department for Gender and Affirmative Action is committed to realizing a society that champions equality, safeguards rights, and provides opportunities for every Kenyan.
