Grace Wasike

Director Social Economic Empowerment

Grace Wasike is an accomplished professional with extensive experience spanning over three decades in the public service. She has proven success in the conceptualization, coordination and execution of projects and programs aimed at spearheading gender mainstreaming and women’s socio-economic empowerment.

Ms Wasike has been instrumental in the formulation and implementation of strategic policies, legislations, guidelines and procedures that address systemic barriers to gender equality, among them; Workplace and the Gender-Based Violence (GBV) Policies (2015), East Africa Community  Gender Policy (2018),  National Policy for Prevention and Response to Gender-Based Violence (2014), National Gender and Development policy and the Strategic Plan (2018-2022).

Prior to her current role in the State Department for Gender and Affirmative Action, Ms Grace Wasike served as Deputy Director of Gender Affairs in the Ministry of Mining; Assistant Director in charge of Regional Integration in the Ministry of East African Community Affairs, Commerce and Tourism and District Gender and Home Economics Officer in the Ministry of Agriculture.

She holds a Master’s degree in Development with a concentration on Gender, Social Inclusion & Rural Livelihoods, a Bachelor of Agriculture & Home-Economics and a Postgraduate Diploma (PGD) in International Relations.
